Biography

Primarily responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the EMS service, including managing personnel, ensuring equipment readiness, maintaining quality of patient care, coordinating training programs, responding to major incidents, and assisting the EMS Chief in strategic planning and policy development; essentially acting as a key leader in the EMS department, ensuring smooth and effective emergency medical response operations while upholding high standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities may include:
Operational Oversight: Managing ambulance crews and scheduling shifts. Monitoring response times and ensuring timely arrival at emergency scenes. Supervising the maintenance and upkeep of ambulances and medical equipment.
Reviewing patient care reports and quality assurance measures.
Staff Management: Leading and mentoring EMS personnel, including EMTs and paramedics. Conducting performance evaluations and addressing disciplinary issues. Implementing and overseeing staff training programs, including continuing education.
Clinical Quality Assurance: Reviewing patient care records to identify areas for improvement. Implementing clinical protocols and guidelines to ensure consistent quality care. Investigating critical incidents and implementing corrective actions.
Incident Command: Responding to major incidents or mass casualty events as a command-level officer.Coordinating resource allocation and incident management strategies.
Community Engagement: Participating in community outreach programs to educate on emergency preparedness.Collaborating with other healthcare providers and community organizations.
Administrative Duties: Preparing budgets and managing financial aspects of the EMS division. Maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. Assisting the EMS Chief in developing strategic plans and policies.
