Appointed as Fiscal Officer in 2017, and elected in November 2017 to complete the remainder of the open term. She was later re-elected in 2019. The youngest of four, Laura was born and raised in Harris Township to Loren and Jane Nowak, graduated from Woodmore High School in 1987, and later received an Associate’s degree in Accounting and Business Management. In addition to her 30+ years of ongoing experiences in the accounting field in positions as a financial controller for a local manufacturing company, bookkeeper, payroll analyst, tax accountant, and research director, Laura continues to find time to give back to the community. She served several years as chair for Cub Scout Troop 314, appointed guardian for three adult wards through the Volunteer Guardianship Program under Ottawa County Probate Court, volunteer EMT with Harris Elmore EMS, Notary Public, and always assisting local businesses and individuals with accounting/tax questions, along with wearing many other hats! Laura enjoys spending time with her family, including two adult daughters, three adult bonus children, and five grandchildren.
